The Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks men's soccer team has signed standout winger Orien Domin.
Originally from Sparwood, B.C., Domin says he has found himself at home in Lethbridge and feels it’s a great place for him to grow as both a soccer player and a student.
Domin is enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing program.
His recruitment process began after head coach Mike Racz watched him play and expressed his interest to one of Domin’s coaches.
“Orien does a great job creating havoc on the wing for defenders; he’s quick, relentless and can run for days,” says Racz. “I feel sorry for the fullback who has to try to keep track of him over 90 minutes.”
In the past year, Domin has competed in several high-level international tournaments including the First Touch Football Family Day Showdown in Coquitlam, B.C. and Surf Cup International in Rome, Italy. He also represented Team Canada at the 2024 International Football Association 7 COPA AMERICA – Raising Stars tournament in Lima, Peru. The tournament is known as one of the most prestigious single-event sporting competitions in the Americas for seven-a-side football.
“I'm looking forward to the competition and to see what we could do here at Lethbridge Polytechnic,” says Domin.
Racz says he has high hopes that Domin will contribute to a positive culture, and he can see him growing into a leader on and off the pitch.
“Orien leads by example with his work rate and attitude, and I believe his presence will help elevate those around him,” he says. “I’m excited to have him in the program and to see how far he can go.“
