Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks are getting ready to host the 2025 Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference (ACAC) Soccer Championships, presented by the Southern Alberta Homes Team at Grassroots Realty Group, Oct. 23 to 26.
The top men's and women's collegiate teams from across the province will compete at Comet Stadium in Raymond, Alta. – a state-of-the-art facility boasting artificial turf, lights and seating for more than 1,200 spectators – for the chance at a conference championship and a spot at nationals next month.
"ACAC Soccer is one of the most competitive conferences in the CCAA and the fact that Lethbridge Polytechnic gets to host both the Men's and Women's championships is an absolute honour," says Todd Caughlin, Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks Athletic Director. "The level of play that will be on display this weekend out in Raymond should draw soccer fans from all over province. The speed, athleticism and just pure talent that will be on the pitch for those three days will be worth watching if you are a soccer fan!"
The four-day tournament gets underway this Thursday, Oct. 23 with team practices at Comet Stadium. The 2025 ACAC Soccer Awards Ceremony and Banquet will follow that evening at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge.
Game action begins with quarterfinals on Friday, Oct. 24, as both men's and women's Kodiaks teams take the pitch for the knock-out round. Semifinals will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25 and the ACAC bronze and gold medal matches are set for Sunday, Oct. 26.
"There's going to be some fantastic soccer on display this weekend," says Kodiaks head coach Michael Racz. "The quality across the ACAC has been incredible this year, and every team has proven they can compete at the highest level. That's what makes this time of year so special."
He adds that everything resets once the playoffs begin. "When you reach Championships, everyone starts back at square one," Racz says. "It's win and you move on. Our Kodiaks groups have put in the work all season to be ready for this stage, and we're looking forward to showing what we can do when it matters most."
The presenting sponsor of the 2025 ACAC Soccer Championships, Southern Alberta Homes Team at Grassroots Realty Group, shares a long-standing connection with the Kodiaks. Southern Alberta Homes also proudly supported the program as the presenting sponsor when Lethbridge College last hosted the championships in 2022. Ally Keith, a respected residential and commercial realtor, represented the Kodiaks as a member of the women's soccer team from 2009 to 2011 while completing her Business Administration – Marketing diploma. Her colleague, Justin Lariviere, also contributed to the program's success, serving as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's teams from 2017 to 2021.
"As an alum, it's important for me to stay involved in the program and continue to support Kodiaks Athletics," says Keith. "And as members of the business community, we want to champion Lethbridge and southern Alberta as a great place to live, work and go to school."
Spectators are invited to catch all the action next weekend by purchasing a tournament pass for $40, an adult day pass for $15 or a student day pass for $5. Admission is free for Lethbridge Polytechnic students and children under 12.
Those unable to cheer on their team in person, can purchase a streaming pass through ACACTV.
Tournament information, including game previews and recaps, will be available on the 2025 ACAC Soccer Championships website.
