Jacobs and Fox-Grey Named January Athletes of the Month

Feb. 9, 2022 - Matlin Jacobs (WBB) and Jack-Henry Fox-Grey (MBB) have been named January Athletes of the Month, sponsored by Italian Table and Moxies. This pair of student-athletes have shown great consistency and leadership on the court, which has contributed to both Kodiaks basketball teams earning national recognition. Men’s basketball is currently debuting at #6 and women’s basketball coming in at #11. 

Matlin Jacobs (WBB)

A key returner to the women’s basketball team, Matlin (fourth year, Open Studies, Cardston) has been an anchor for her team. Jacobs brings composure and consistency on the court, which has been an essential piece to the Kodiaks’ success this year.

At point-guard, Jacobs has been relied upon as lock-down defender, often defending  opponents top scorers while also being responsible for facilitating the team’s offence. This season Jacobs is averaging 9.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 2 steals per game.

Jack-Henry Fox-Grey (MBB)

A former LCI Ram product, Jack-Henry (second year, General studies, Lethbridge) has been a key component to the Kodiaks’ success. As the starting centre, Fox-Grey has brought consistency on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. 

Fox-Grey is currently averaging 11.7 points per game and shooting 46.2% from the floor for the season. He is also leading the team in rebounding, averaging 6.7 rebounds per game. Coach Heggie speaks highly of the growth Fox-Grey has shown this year in his leadership, coach-ability and willingness to develop his game.
