Austin and Marshall Canadian Brewhouse Kodiaks student-athletes of the week

Robyn Austin (second year, Business Administration, Lethbridge) of the women’s volleyball team played a pivotal role in helping secure their first home wins of the season with back-to-back upset victories over the Olds College Broncos. In the opening match, Austin delivered a dominant all-around performance, leading both teams in points, kills, and digs. She finished with 15 kills, 10 digs, five service aces, and 20 points, earning Player of the Game honours while setting the tone with her composure and competitiveness. Austin followed that effort with another strong showing in the second match, once again leading the Kodiaks in kills, aces, and points, recording 14 kills, 10 digs, a service ace, and 16 points. Her consistency, leadership, and ability to rise in key moments were instrumental in the Kodiaks’ breakthrough weekend, anchoring the team during a confidence-building stretch at home.
Karl Petker (third year, Agricultural Sciences, Coaldale) of the men’s volleyball team played a key role in a season-defining weekend as the Kodiaks secured back-to-back wins over the Olds College Broncos to clinch their spot at the ACAC Championships. In the opening match, Petker delivered a steady performance at the net, recording three kills on seven attempts while adding two solo blocks to help the Kodiaks control key moments. He followed that effort with a standout showing in the second match, posting 11 kills on 15 swings for an impressive .733 hitting percentage, along with a service ace and 13 points, earning Player of the Game honours. Petker’s efficiency, composure, and ability to elevate his play under pressure were instrumental in the Kodiaks’ postseason push, anchoring the team during a crucial weekend.
