Moxies is proud to sponsor the Kodiaks Student-Athletes of the Month. Congrats to Summer and Ben on their February achievements!
Summer Long (first year, General Arts and Science, Raymond, Alta.) continued her exceptional debut season with another strong month for the Kodiaks women’s basketball team, earning back-to-back Kodiaks Athlete of the Month honours. Long was named the ACAC South Division Rookie of the Year and earned ACAC First Team All-Conference recognition, highlighting her immediate impact in the league. Throughout the season, she ranked top five in ACAC scoring and top six in rebounding, while also earning recognition as both CCAA Student-Athlete of the Week and Kodiaks Student-Athlete of the Week. Her athleticism and ability to influence the game on both ends of the floor helped lead the Kodiaks to a berth in the ACAC Women’s Basketball Championship for the first time since 2023, capping off a remarkable first season for the Raymond product.
Ben Dyck (third year, Agricultural Sciences, Coaldale, Alta.) delivered a standout month of February for the Kodiaks men’s volleyball team, highlighted by consistent offensive production and strong performances in key matches. Dyck earned two ACAC Player of the Match honours during the month, establishing himself as a reliable attacking presence on the outside pins. He carried that momentum into the postseason, where he was named a Tournament All-Star after an outstanding showing at the ACAC Championships, recording 25 kills in a quarterfinal comeback victory and 24 kills in the bronze medal match. Dyck played a pivotal role in helping the Kodiaks secure a historic bronze medal finish, marking the first ACAC Championship bronze medal in program history and adding another milestone to the legacy of Kodiaks men’s volleyball.
