Lethbridge College men's basketball recruit brings deep ties to the Kodiaks
The Lethbridge College Kodiaks men’s basketball team continues the Tollestrup legacy.
June 7, 2023 - The Lethbridge College Kodiaks men’s basketball team continues the Tollestrup legacy. Cody Tollestrup has officially signed with the team for the upcoming season as a forward.
Tollestrup will be taking the Business Administration program at the college in the fall. Raised in Magrath, he grew up going to Kodiaks games watching friends and family play.
Tollestrup has some deep-rooted connections to the Kodiaks as family members like his uncle Allen Tollestrup, cousin Scott Tollestrup, and sister-in-law Abbie (Hall) Tollestrup all played for the Kodiaks, while his grandfather Phil Tollestrup coached (2004-2007) and his uncle Tim Tollestrup coached and served as athletic director.
“As a young boy, it was always my dream to play for the college,” says Tollestrup. “I’m excited that I have this special opportunity to make my dream become a reality.”
Tollestrup is a player who’s been on the Kodiaks radar for years. His 6’4 height, strength and inside presence on the court will all be an asset for the team.
“Cody brings much-needed size to our roster at the power forward position,” says head coach Ryan Heggie. “He plays physical on both ends and can score the ball inside and out!”
Coming from a family full of high-level athletes and coaches has built a work-hard-and-dream-big mentality for Tollestrup.
“I'm here to work my guts out and give this team all I have,” says Tollestrup. When asked what he was most looking forward to once the season starts, he had one particular goal in mind: “Winning the national championship!”
