Women's Volleyball competed in Red Deer Wild Rose Classic over weekend
The Kodiak Women's Volleyball team was up in red Deer for the Wild Rose Classic this week-end where it was another strong showing for the team. They opened the tournament facing Red Deer Alumni which consisted of players who went on to play CIS after their time at Red Deer, the Kodiaks forced them to 3 sets with scores of 14-25 25-17 9-15. Next up was Concordia, the Kodiaks swept the match 25-20 25-14. In the cross over round Lethbridge met up with Ambrose where it was all Kodiaks 25-15 25-17. , this set up a Quarter Final m,atch with the host Red Deer Queens who will be highly ranked nationally and a favorite to win the ACAC this year. The Kodiaks proved they are getting close to that top tier as they pushed the Queens to scores of 24-26 22-25 despite having three key players out of the line up. Sunday was a day to build some depth as everyone saw an abundance of playing time, the Kodiaks fell to Augustana 20-15 25-27 and dropped another close match to Concordia 25-27 22-25. Next up is the Thanksgiving Classic in Grant MacEwan October 11-13.
