Women's Basketball win back to back against Olds
The Kodiak Women kept pace with the ACAC league leaders with two wins over a much improved Olds College last week-end. Friday at home the Kodiaks won 55-40 as Deanna Dotts had one of her strongest games of the season with 24 points and 18 rebounds. Emma Lowry was the only other Lethbridge player to hit double figures with 12 points. Two new additions for the Broncos at Christmas are point guard April Freeney of Los Angeles and 6’3” post Carmen Deal from Las Vegas. Both players scored double figures with 12 and 10 points respectively. On Saturday the Kodiaks jumped out to an early 19-6 lead bit led only 38-33 at halftime. After a 22-10 third quarter, Lethbridge led 60-43, but Olds caught fire in the last 10 minutes and cut the lead to just 5 before the Kodiaks put the game out of reach 82-68. Emma Lowry had 23 points for the Kodiaks (11 in the last quarter), while Sidney Carlsen and Deanna Dotts had 14 and 13 points respectively. Elizabeth Lowry rounded out the double figures scorers with 10 points. Karly Brakes collected 10 assists to lead to her South Division leading total. The wins push the Kodiaks record to 13-3 in ACAC play but the next four games are critical. Lethbridge is in Medicine Hat Friday for a 6:00 PM game and back home Saturday at 6:00 again.
