Women's Basketball Split first weekend of New Year Play

The Women’s Basketball team came away with a split in their week-end series with a loss in Augustana 68-56, and a 72-46 win in Kings Saturday.  The Kodiaks were outworked in the opening half by a determined Vikings squad, out to avenge a 54-47 loss January 3rd to the Kodiaks.  Half time saw the home team up 37-16, as the Kodiaks shot 18% from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.  Despite a strong second half, the Kodiaks dropped a 12 point game to Augustana in a top Four ACAC match.  Emma Lowry was named Player of the Game with 15 points and 9 rebounds.  Deanna Dotts, the top scorer in the South Division collected 15 points and 8 rebounds.  Saturday the Kodiaks started out quickly as they jumped out to a 15-0 lead and never trailed.  A 35-23 half time lead turned into a 59-35 lead after 30 minutes and the visitors dominated the rebounds 53-34.  Emma Lowry collected a double double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Deanna Dotts and Lily Moradel had 14 and 12 points respectively.  The team hosts NAIT this Friday at 6:00 in the team’s only game this week-end.
