West named ACAC Athlete of the Week
March 9, 2017 - After an impressive regular season and dominant championship weekend, the accolades continue to pour in for Kodiaks third-year guard Sunder West, as she was recognized as one of the ACAC's Athletes of the Week.
Sunder, an Office Admin/General Studies student athlete, helped the Kodiaks finish with an undefeated record for the second straight regular season. She was named to the ACAC First All-Conference Team at the ACAC awards banquet, then followed it up with three dominant games in the conference championship tournament.
She finished the tournament first in scoring, averaging 20.7 points per game, and was fourth in 3pt-pct at 43.3%. She was also in the top ten in assists per game at 4.0, and even hit a remarkable near half-court buzzer beater in the opening round game against Lakeland. Sunder was selected as the 2017 ACAC Women’s Basketball Championship Most Valuable Player for her dazzling performance.
In high school, Sunder was a Comet from Raymond High School, Raymond, AB.
Sunder and the undefeated Kodiaks will enter next week's CCAA National Championship tournament as the third seed and will square off in the opening round against PACWEST champion Douglas College at 1 p.m. MT on Thursday, March 16. The tournament is hosted by NAIT and will take place in Edmonton, AB.
