South Grand Prix a successful meet for Kodiaks
The cross country team is off and running in the right direction. This past weekend the team was up in olds competing in the South Grand Prix. The team started the season with a double win at Olds with the other ½ of the ACAC teams running in Edmonton. So it seems that we will compete against Concordia and Augustana on the men’s side and SAIT/NAIT or Augustana on the women’s side.
At Sundre’s Snake Hill course; Kodiak’s ACAC champion from last year Edwin Kaitany took the win (ACAC runners) in the men’s 6km with rookie Boaz Korir a strong second and Alex Andres 3rd and rookie Philemon Cheriyout 11th (top four scorers). Rachel Makenzie had an impressive showing as she clinched 2nd overall, not far behind SAIT’s top female with Kodiak Sarah Makowsky 5th and Mikaela York 6th and rookie Sylvia Vonguten rounding up the top four Kodiak scorers. The Kodiak teams have a weekend off and return to Red Deer on Sept 27th!
