Kodiaks Weekend Update - Nov. 24


Women’s Volleyball

It was a tough weekend for our women as they battled against the Medicine Hat Rattlers. Friday night they fought hard, but the Rattlers won the match 3-1. In Medicine Hat on Saturday, our Kodiaks fell just short of a win as the Rattlers took the match with a 3-2 win. Larissa Vonkeman is currently ranked second in the ACAC South division for blocks. For their last set of games before Christmas break, they will be playing against Ambrose University College. Friday night they play away, and Saturday night they will be hosting.


Men’s Volleyball

On their home floor Friday night the men’s team had an incredible performance against Medicine Hat in a well deserved 3-1 win. Saturday’s action in Medicine Hat ended with the Rattlers on top for a 3-2 win over the Kodiaks. In the ACAC South stats rankings, Kai Hesthammer is second in kills, Marcus Biesheuvel is first in assists, and Nils Reger is fourth in Blocks. The team plays Ambrose University College this weekend in their last games until January in the new year. Friday night they are playing at Ambrose, and Saturday night they will play here at home in the Val Matteoti gymnasium.


Women’s Basketball

Women’s Basketball continues their winning streak with a pair of wins over the Medicine Hat Rattlers this past weekend. On Friday night they won 82-49, with both Sunder West and Emma Lowry sinking 21 points. At home on Saturday they were victorious again with a 73-36 win. Sunder West led scoring again with 18 points, while Emma Lowry and Jordyn Kirk both snatched an impressive 12 and 11 rebounds, respectively. The team travels to Olds this weekend for games on Friday night and Saturday night, and then they get to rest up until January.


Men’s Basketball

Our Men’s Basketball team took two wins this weekend as they battled against the Medicine Hat Rattlers. During their 85-69 win on Friday in Medicine Hat, Dathon Spencer was high scorer putting up 23 points. On Saturday, our Kodiaks stood strong on their home court with a 101-93 victory. Chaz Johnson had 24 points on the night, and Travis Butt had 21. Men’s Basketball will head up to Olds this weekend for games on Friday and Saturday night to finish off the semester.
