Kodiaks Weekend Update - Jan. 19

Kodiaks Weekend Update Jan. 19

Women's Volleyball

It was a big weekend for our women's volleyball team as they took on the Briercrest Clippers who are currently ranked 2nd in the ACAC.  On Friday night came a solid effort with Chloe Neil setting up 18 kills and Isabelle Huel digging 15 opposing hits. Despite their efforts, Briercrest took the game 3-0. When Saturday afternoon came along, our Kodiaks stepped onto the court with a chemistry you could not only see, but also feel. As they battled against the Clippers for a second time, they won the game 3-1. Haley Jensen had 29 assists, 16 digs, and 2 kills on the game. Lindsay Glas literally pounded the ball with 11 kills. Maclean Gilchrist dug up 18 hits from the opposing team. Their next home game will be this Saturday (Jan 24) at 6 & 8pm against Medicine Hat.

Men's Volleyball

Our men's volleyball team had a close matchup this weekend against the Briercrest Clippers. Friday night our Kodiaks had their backs against the ropes as the Clippers were ahead 2-0. This didn't phase our men as they fought back fearlessly for three straight sets to win the game 3-2. Marcus Biesheuvel set up his teammates for a collective 57 kills. Kai Hesthammer had 22 of those kills, and Hakon Ostrem had 18. On Saturday afternoon they started off strong with a 25-21 win in the first set. The following sets were close, but our Kodiaks couldn't pull together a second win as they lost to the Clippers 1-3. Their next home game will be this Saturday (Jan 24) at 6 & 8pm against Medicine Hat.

Men's and Women's Basketball

Our Kodiaks basketball teams had the opportunity to rest up this weekend as they had no games scheduled. They are getting geared up to play SAIT this weekend in a home and away series. Friday night they will play here in Lethbridge in the Val Matteoti gymnasium at 6 & 8pm. Saturday they will travel to Calgary to play at SAIT.
