Kodiaks Weekend Update - Feb. 9

Women's Volleyball

Our Kodiaks went up against the Ambrose Lions this weekend, playing at home Friday night and in Calgary on Saturday. Friday was a tough match as our women lost to the Lions 0-3. Brie Szentmiklossy had 6 kills, 7 digs, and 1 block on the game. Lindsay Glas also chipped in with 5 kills and 8 digs of her own. On Saturday the girls came out strong seeking revenge for the night prior, but they lost in three close sets. Isabelle Huel dug up 15 attacks from the other team, while Lindsay Glas had 11 successful attacks on the opposing teams territory. Our women's volleyball team has a weekend to rest up before they play their last games of the season against Olds College on February 20th & 21st. 

Men's Volleyball

It was a good weekend for our Kodiaks as they took on the Ambrose Lions. Friday night they played here at home in the Val Matteotti gymnasium. They won the game 3-0. Kai Hesthammer put away 15 kills in the win. Marcus Biesheuvel set up his teammates for a team total of 36 kills. In Calgary on Saturday they didn't let up as they defeated the Lions again-this time on the Lions turf. They won the game in three straight sets. Kai Hesthammer and Hakon Ostrem had 12 and 9 kills each. Our Kodiaks are now ranked nationally as they sit at #15 in all of Canada.  This weekend they don't have any games and they are gearing up to play Olds College on February 20th and 21st.  

Indoor Track

The Kodiaks traveled to Edmonton this past weekend and came home successful once again! Overall 9 individual medals were won and 2 records set as a team. Individually Alex Andres finished first in both the 600 and 300 M events and anchored the 4X400 team to the win. On the women’s side, Caylee Vogel won the 600M, setting a new school record in the process. She also helped anchor the women’s 4X400 to a second place finish.

Women's and Men's Basketball

This past weekend our Kodiaks didn't have any games. They are getting ready to play Medicine Hat in a home and away series this upcoming weekend. The Southern Alberta rivalry matchup begins Friday night right here at home at 6pm & 8pm. Saturday the games are in Medicine Hat at 6pm & 8pm.​
