Kodiaks Weekend Update - Feb. 2 

Women's Basketball 

It was a pair of wins this weekend for women's basketball as they defeated the St. Mary's Lightning. Friday night they won 70-52. Ali Cameron was the top scorer with 26 points. Deanna Dotts led rebounding with 16 rebounds. On Saturday our Kodiaks won 81-63. It was Deanna Dotts again grabbing the most rebounds with 26 rebounds for the Kodiaks. Ali Cameron led in scoring with 20 points, while Sunder West sunk 19 points. Our Kodiaks are currently ranked 5th in Canada. 

Men's Basketball 

Men's basketball swept St. Mary's this weekend, beating them both Friday and Saturday. Friday night Kodiaks won 100-72. Travis Butt led scoring with 24 points, while Colten Murray and Morgan Gunderson both grabbed 15 rebounds each. Our Kodiaks didn't let up as they beat St. Mary's again on Saturday 109-72. Chaz Johnson had an impressive game with 14 rebounds, 13 assists, and 16 points. Our Kodiaks are currently ranked 10th in Canada. 

Women's Volleyball 

It was a tight matchup on Friday night as our Kodiaks played here at home against SAIT. Our Kodiaks played diligently for five very close sets, but unfortunately didn't come away with the win in the end. Maclean Gilchrist had a total of 27 digs throughout the match. Saturday's match ended with a loss for our Kodiaks. Isabelle Huel had 15 digs and Nicole Meier had 6 kills. Their next home game matchup is this Friday against Ambrose at 6pm. Men play at 8pm. 

Men's Volleyball 

It was a back and forth battle on Friday night as our Kodiaks played the SAIT Trojans. Our Kodiaks came out on top, winning 3-2. Marcus Biesheuvel set up his teammates with an impressive 59 assists. Kai Hesthammer had 21 kills.  On Saturday night in Calgary, our Kodiaks showed their strength again as they beat the Trojans in three close sets. Scott Gieske put away 15 kills during the match. Their next home game is this Friday against Ambrose at 8pm. Women play at 6pm.
