Going up against one of the ACAC South’s toughest competition, Olds College Broncos, the Kodiaks had a tough weekend. The Kodiaks played hard both nights but unforced errors and a constant high level attack by the Broncos resulted in a pair of losses. The Kodiaks lost 3-1 on Friday & 3-0 on Saturday. The Kodiaks look to rebound this weekend traveling to Briercrest in a big south division match up.
Men’s volleyball played a home & home contest with Olds College Broncos this past weekend and came out on top both nights. In a well balanced attack the Kodiaks posted two 3-0 wins over the Broncos. The Kodiaks hit the road this weekend, heading to Briercrest College in Caronport, SK for two matches against a very tough south division rival.
Cross Country Running
Kodiaks are headed up to SAIT this Thursday for the CCAA National Championships hosted by SAIT. Both the men’s and women’s teams will be representing the Kodiaks at the championships this weekend. The race will be Saturday at noon. Leading the way for the Kodiaks will be Edwin Katiany and Boaz Korir coming off a first & second place finishes at the ACAC championships. The Kodiaks look to earn another championships title for Lethbridge College.
The Kodiaks men’s and women’s basketball teams remained undefeated on the season with wins this past week. The women’s team faced St. Mary’s University Lightning in an away game on Wednesday night when they handed the home team a 90-61 defeat. On Saturday in the return match in Val Matteotti Gymnasium, the women showed their dominance once again by beating the Lightning 87-55. Leading the way for the Kodiaks was Allie Cameron scoring 23 and 29 points respectively. The men’s team also had a great weekend. Their goal of team defence was the dominating presence as the Kodiaks earned a 102- 59 win on Wednesday and followed that with a 103-48 win on Saturday. The men’s and women’s basketball teams will be playing at home this weekend when they face Briercrest. Stop by games Friday at 6 and 8 p.m., and Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m. On both days, the women’s teams play first. Get your growl on – and come support these outstanding teams. Congratulations go out to all of the players for an outstanding start to the season.
