Kodiaks Men's Volleyball Sign Three Alberta Standouts
Tim Newman – 6’0” Calgary, AB – Tim is one of the top libero prospects coming out of 18u Canada volleyball this year. He consistently displays high end ball control that is needed to be successful in volleyball. He has grown up with some of the country’s top club and high school coaches, and is currently having a strong season with Canuck Stuff in Calgary. The brother of Kodiak Alumni Jack Newman will be majoring in Political Science.
Marcus Biesheuvel – A 5’11” local standout and provincial team member – Marcus has been around the game his entire life and has a deep understanding of how to be successful. Able to play both the setting and libero positions, he brings a lot of ball control to the Kodiaks. Marcus is a graduate and leader of the Chinook Coyotes volleyball program, one of the most successful high school programs in Alberta over the past three years. He will study psychology.
Shane Barr – 6’1” Sherwood Park, AB – Shane is one of the premier setters in Alberta, whose development has surged in the past year. Evidenced by his recent silver medal with Bev Facey at the 4A provincial championships, Shane has the calm demeanor to lead and perform well in pressure situations. Shane is enrolled in Exercise Science.
