Kodiaks men finish fifth at Nationals

Bronze semifinal: (4) Holland Hurricanes 94 v (7) Lethbridge Kodiaks 89
CCAA All-Canadian Trenity Burdine was a force for the Hurricanes, finishing with 21 points on seven-of-13 shooting, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocks to be named Holland College’s player of the game.
Chris Maughan received the award for the Kodiaks, finishing the game with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
The Hurricanes struggled early, finding themselves down 22-10 going into the second quarter.
The Kodiaks, behind a 21-point first half from Robert Myles III, led by as many as 15 in the second quarter. The host Canes battled back, and cut Lethbridge’s lead to 41-38 going into halftime.
The Hurricanes carried the momentum into the third quarter, and took a five point lead going into the final quarter.
In the fourth, the Canes hit their stride, and increased their lead to 16 in the quarter. The Kodiaks were able to bring the game to within two possessions, but it was too little, too late.
